The first trailer for Alien: Covenant is the best Christmas gift any horror fan could ask for. Intense, familiar yet mysterious, and gorgeously shot; it appears to be everything you want from an Alien film.

Alien: Covenant follows the events of Prometheus, which itself is a
prequel 1979′s Alien. Ridley Scott, who helmed both Alien and Prometheus, is back in
the director’s chair. John Logan (Spectre, The Last Samurai) wrote the script.

Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco star.

The film opens on May 19 via 20th Century Fox. Here is the official synopsis:

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the
far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted
paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.  When they uncover a
threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
