i’m just so confused, so i’m gonna repeat myself real quick:

There was an actual episode of Boy Meets World, aired on the Disney Channel, in which a boy is murdered, and a pencil is impaled through his skull, and he slides down the wall with a trail of blood following him down from where the pencil pierced the back of his skull, and they follow that up with “We’ll always remember how tall he was”

and THAT

is more intense and violent than anything I saw in the DD cult ending

Boy Meets World just didn’t say “fuck” or talk about choking fetishes

Personally personally, as an addendum to that other post;

Maybe I’m just desensitized because of how many VNs I’ve played but

People are acting like this ending is “over the line” and “too much” and “would be great if it were toned down a lot”

like

WHAT

n-….NOTHING HAPPENS

That ending is so tame!! SO TAME!! I’ve seen some darker things on spongebob!!! there was an episode of Boy Meets World that I saw when I was a kid that had someone get murdered by having a pencil impaled through their skull, and THAT’S WORSE THAN ANYTHING IN THE CULT ENDING

I’m so flabbergasted like…am i forgetting or missing something? the worst part of that ending (spoilers i guess) is Joseph saying “I will fuck every dad i break until the stench of their failures brings back the old gods” or something to that effect, but that’s one line and again, isn’t THAT startling

no one even really fucking dies. i dont get it

GOD BLESS I’m so happy you made that DDaDDS post I’ve just been seeing posts trying to make the game problematic when… its not. Bless up

Thank you! I’m glad you feel the same! DD is probably one of the least problematic games I’ve played in a long time, it’s so pure and wholesome like why would you even feel the need to start shit over it LMAO

(I’ll be honest when i saw the message notification I was like “oh no the discourse is beginning” lol)

Personally, I don’t see much reason to assume that the cult ending in DD is anything other an a joke ending. and even if it isn’t, why does THAT ending have to be the be-all-end-all canon ending?

and even if it IS the be-all-end-all canon ending…why is that such a big deal?

like, School Days has MULTIPLE endings that are bloody, violent, and a complete 180 compared to the rest of the game. and that shit is ICONIC!

Hatoful Boyfriend has an ending where MC gets decapitated. and that’s not even bringing up BBL which is VERY dark and involves genocide. Yknow, in a game about dating birds. birds.

insane, dark endings in otherwise peppy games are actually not unusual. they’re very common in visual novels especially, where the bad endings are very, VERY bad. personally, i love that shit. especially in a game that, in my opinion, has kind of…bland endings. I’ve only gotten three so far, but they seem…very similar. Maybe I’m missing something but two out of three have just been “sitting under the cherry blossom tree with your daddy-of-choice”.

tl;dr imo it’s silly to be upset about one ending in a game that is all about getting different endings. especially if said ending isn’t actually accessible in the game itself and only through the code.

at least wait until the creators come forward and confirm it’s canon before you flip your lid

something i don’t like and have never liked about tumblr is how obsessed people are with assigning labels to themselves and others, and in the process just insist on dividing everybody into sects and reducing them into not being a full person.

people who act like assholes aren’t just “assholes” anymore. they have to be in the Bad Group (i.e., white cishet neurotypical whatever-the-hell-else male). They’re not unlikable just because they’re an asshole, they’re unlikable because they’re part of the Bad Group. It’s not who you are, it’s WHAT you are.

And it works similarly in the opposite way. If you are part of the Bad Group, then you can be as calm and reasonable with another person as possible, and everything you say or do will be labelled as Bad. It’s coming from the Bad Group, so it should be ignored and dismissed as hurtful or dangerous or just a product of a Bad Person.

And if you have a problem with taking on these labels, if you insist that isn’t a representation of who you are as a person, you’re shoved into the Bad Group against your will. Suddenly your word isn’t enough for others to believe what you are. Suddenly it’s their decision.

IDK if this is necessarily tribalism but the fact that individuals are treated based on their race, who they want to bang, what they have in their pants, etc, is very very disturbing.

Insisting that everyone must be in a group is dangerous. All it does is enforce “us vs  them”, because “they’re not like us!” and that does absolutely zero good. That slides dangerously easily into “they’re different, and so they’re evil” territory.

YEESH Colossal is apparently inspired…

What? Lol

i really dont know the details, but apparently the actors spent a lot of time during their press-talk for the movie talking about gamergate

and allegedly the director said that he was inspired by gamergate to make this movie, because idfk “harassment” or something

so idk, i assume the monster she controls is gonna yell “GO HOME, GAMER GIRL” at some point in the film

granted, god knows if any of that shit is even true lmao

Okay so Passengers was a really good movie

all the discourse around it implied that she found out he woke her up, and was like “…whatever.”

like, no, she spent a good portion of time distressed and took it out on him both emotionally and physically. she beat the fuck out of him and almost killed him by bashing him over the head with…i dont know what it was, a tire iron or something

like, jeez. is it illegal for her to forgive him after going through a period of grieving?
