Nick: What is this thing for?
Me: It’s for one of those things…you know…the, uh, Ruth Bader Ginsburg Machines.
Nick: Wh…you mean Rube Goldberg Machines?
Me: That’s it!
Nick: RUTH BADER GINSBURG MACHINES??
Me: ALL THE SAME SOUNDS ARE THERE!

I showed like 2/3 of Hereditary to Nick yesterday, and I’m so glad bcus he reacted basically the same way I did to everything. I was worried he’d be unimpressed but, other than being overall less tense than I was, his responses were close to being beat-by-beat the same as mine lmao

Leading up to Charlie’s death scene he was making jokes and saying “THIS KID GONNA DIE TONIGHT” and shit like that, and then when Charlie actually died he went quiet and just sat there with his mouth hanging open for like a full minute

Then when it showed her rotting head, he straight up shouted

There were so many points where he’d just let out long, heavy breaths though his teeth after a particularly tense and uncomfortable scene, and at one point he ran his hands over his face and said “this movie is FUCKING ME UP”

And the part that I enjoyed the most (bcus I didn’t think he’d be affected by it at all) was the scene where Peter sees Charlie standing in the darkness of his room, and her head slumps forward and falls off. When I saw that scene in the theater I gasped and was like, legit startled by it happening. Nick saw it and make a little surprised yell and then covered his mouth and started groaning in frustration over being startled. And it was SO fucking vindicating lmfao

I was so worried that I was over-hyping Hereditary and he would be unimpressed but I’m so glad it spooked him like it spooked me

if there was one tv show/movie you could go back and stop yourself from ever watching, what would it be?

teslanik:

Home Movies on Adult Swim. I just…the animation style…

Oh my god literally every single aspect of Home Movies was horrible. Art, voice acting, sound design, story and dialogue, everything

I used to suffer through it to watch Sealab 2021 and it was not worth it

WHAT

OK LET ME EXPLAIN

I havent seen either of them and they came out close to each other

They both had McDonalds toys and I got one for each; I got a rubber toy of the little red blob dude from Treasure Planet, and the necklace from Atlantis. Again, i’d never seen the movies so when I had those toys I kinda thought they were just from the same thing

Now, looking at the characters I can definitely identify who is from Treasure Planet and who is from Atlanis, but I never actually separated the two movies in my head. They were just one existence despite looking DRASTICALLY different stylistically

BUT AGAIN I NEVER SAW THEM SO I NEVER HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO THINK ABOUT IT
