apprehensive about the new film retconning continuity by ignoring all of
the sequels, but I think the trailer should quell any trepidation.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to reprise
her role as Laurie Strode 40 years later. Her past trauma has turned her into a
Sarah
Connor-esque warrior, hellbent on protecting her family from Michael Myers upon his inevitable return. It looks like she will be filling Dr. Loomis’ shoes.

Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner round out
the cast. James Jude Courtney dons the iconic Michael Myers mask, along
with
original “The Shape” actor Nick Castle for select scenes.

John Carpenter, director of the 1978 genre-defining classic, is on board as executive producer. Perhaps even more exciting, he will be composing the film’s score. Jason Blum (Get Out, Happy Death Day) also produces.

Halloween opens on October 19 via Blumhouse and Universal. It’s directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Joe) from a
script he co-wrote with actor Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down, Alien: Covenant) and
Jeff Fradley (Vice Principals).
